Hosted by NWOSU’s Institute for Citizenship Studies and its Department of Social Sciences, the lecture was titled “James Knox Polk (1845–1849): Meet America’s Most Important Unknown President.” It took the form of a conversation between Dr. Cohen and Dr. Aaron L. Mason, co-director of the institute. They discussed many topics about Polk, including his religious views, the Mexican-American War, and his decision not to seek a second term.
